VNIRO Publishing offers a monograph authored by V.Ya. Pavlov, The Periodic System of Articulata (185 pages, 7 tables, 106 figures, 1 colour insert, 235 references). Published in Russian.
The book deals with detailed and successive description of the creating the periodic system of Articulata (Annelides + Arthropoda) The comparative morphofunctional analyses of the food-gathering apparatuses of Crustacea and Trilobitomorpha are a base of the system. The main types of apparatuses are defined and natural character of historical continuity between them is discussed. The principles of heteronomous metameria development and evolution of principal plans in Arthropoda are discussed in accordance with their food-gathering function.
The main result of the work - the periodic system - is represented in the form of the table, which puts in order not only the basic peculiarities of Arthropoda plan, but also the ways in their evolution. The analysis of system permits to have a new approach to at origin and phylogeny of the main groups in Articulata, and also to present evolution as a regular process.
The book is destined for the biologists of wide type and for the teachers an students of biological faculties.
